Nice one!
In case anyone is interested, here are my favorite applications for a highpass filter: First, you can make skies and clouds significantly more dramatic by applying the highpass filter in overlay mode with relatively high radii. As with the sharpening, an unsharp-mask like filter will work just as well.
And second, if you invert the highpass filtered layer and then put it over the original image in overlay mode, you get a very nice softening filter instead of a sharpening one. It looks a lot more like photographic promist-type soft focus filters than a regular box blur or a gaussian blur, and best of all, it preserves sharp edges quite well.

Cool. There are some techniques with using High Pass Filters in Photoshop in creating the “Dave Hill Photography” look. Now that you’ve come up with this cool Filter.. I wonder if we can pull off this look in Motion?? I’ll have to tinker

Thanks a lot. Just play with it. Try different blending modes. Try it over a video, photo, illustration, color and grayscale, try in on 3D generated graphic. You’ll me amazed how often it helps to sell the final effect.
